PKK Fighters Engage in Grenade Duel With Turkish Miliary

Ancient mountain peaks older than the surrounding nations overlook arid valleys,  as two figures brave loose rocks and climb into thin air. Breath taking views and difficult climbs could easily pull in hundreds of rock climbing enthusiasts to join them, but you won’t find them here. There is no safety gear, no Red Cross to save the unlucky if they fall, but these are the least of the worries the mountain will see today. A round object breaks with tradition and flies upwards.

It’s a grenade.

To stand at the foot of these crags is to be unaware of the vertical killing fields they have become in skirmishes between the Turkish military and the Anarchist-friendly PKK. GoPro cameras have given us a unique window into the action capturing Kurdish insurgents warring with government soldiers in the mountainous terrain of southeastern Turkey for Gerila TV.

At least two Kurds appear to overrun a Turkish outpost with nothing but AK’s, grenades, and a metric shit-ton of balls, causing at least two soldiers to abandon their machine-gun position and several others to be killed.
